OUR STORY

HISTORY

Move the World was created after our founder participated in an extraordinary course called Awakening the Dreamer/Changing the Dream, offered by Pachamama Alliance. In this course, our dream emerged as a dance activism company, empowering youth to become authentic climate activists/performers, and public speakers changing their world. Our first performance was on Earth Day 2013 . We took on the local and global issues of ocean plastic pollution with our ‘Ban the Plastic Bag’ initiative, which passed in 2016 (but unfortunately now is paused during Covid-19.)

For several years we joined forces with The Advot Project, performing with them at The Broad Stage and The Wallis Performing Arts Center on behalf of educating incarcerated women and girls. Performing and speaking at countless parades, events, school assemblies, Move the World youth have been changing hearts through art since 2013.

We accomplished our first international performance at the Parliament of World Religions Congress in Toronto for 5000 world leaders in 2018. Our short film, 'Consumed', a new take on youth consumerism through music, dance and film making, received a My Hero Project Arts Hero Film Award in 2016. Our short film is used annually in the Santa Monica College Sustainability Program to teach students the power of youth, art and activism.

              MISSION

Moving us toward social and climate activism through the power of the performing arts, education and social action.

Through our educational programs, MTW supports it's participants developing their unique voice and a set of practical skills to express genuine activism and a new global vision of equity, sustainability and inclusion.

MTW is able to weave complex ideas into entertaining and transformative live theater. Our programs use multimedia, public speaking, interdisciplinary performing arts, visual art, film, and theatrical dance as vehicles to express the urgency of our climate crisis along with scientific solutions that can move humanity forward to a regenerative future.
HELP US MOVE THE WORLD!

               VISION

Climate Regeneration: MTW has narrowed its vision to focus specifically on the Climate Crisis from 2020-2030.

Our programs educate and activate youth, families and corporations on the solutions to collectively reverse global warming. Our Drawdown Workshops and DanceDown Performances provide practical action and inspired hope that we can all be part of solving the largest global issue of our time by 2050.

We seek to foster solutions, projects, collaborations and education that express vision for climate regeneration.
Start Small. Start Local.
Start Together.

MTW DOCUMENTARY

This shows how it all began!

In 2013 we created Move the World in our home town of Topanga, CA. We all loved to dance but we wanted  dance to make a difference. We cared about our earth, our people, our animals and our future. Little by little we grew in body, mind and dancing spirit. Soon we took on the issues of Climate Change, Youth Incarceration, Black Lives Matter, Plastic Pollution and Youth Homelessness.
